Do state maturity exams today really measure a student’s maturity?

In Bernardinai.lt article, Judita Akromienė, the head of the National Network of Education NGOs, shared her insights on state maturity exams in Lithuania.

She also drew attention to the emotional state and motivation of the students themselves, which is suppressed by the current educational culture:

“The traditional learning model often seems distant to students from real life. When learning is mainly associated with a grade, correcting mistakes, or preparing for an exam, its sense of meaning decreases. Students are increasingly asking why they need it and where they will apply it. The most important thing is to restore the meaning of learning: students must see that they are learning not only for the exam, but also for themselves, their abilities.”
